ABOUT

Objectives

PETACom proposes to create a new paradigm in ultrafast electronics. Today, the electronic gigahertz is mastered and the terahertz regime is just accessible. Soon, electronic components will progress to the petahertz range involving attosecond dynamics. Dielectrics and semiconductors exhibit reversible properties of ultra-fast and high electron mobility when exposed to intense femtosecond laser fields. PETACom proposes to exploit the strong electron current that oscillates at petahertz frequencies in the conduction band, controlled by the laser field at the optical cycle.
